Distribution transformers are essential electrical devices used to step down high-voltage electricity from distribution networks to lower voltages suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. They play a vital role in ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply to end users. Designed for continuous operation, distribution transformers offer excellent voltage regulation, low energy losses, and high operational efficiency.

These transformers are typically installed on utility poles, ground-mounted platforms, or within substations to deliver safe and stable electricity. Manufactured using high-quality core materials and advanced winding technologies, they provide long service life with minimal maintenance requirements. Distribution transformers are available in various ratings and configurations, including oil-cooled and dry-type models, to meet diverse power distribution needs.

Their robust construction, energy-efficient performance, and compliance with industry standards make them a preferred choice for power utilities, infrastructure projects, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities, ensuring dependable power distribution across different sectors and applications.

Distribution transformers are compact in size and elegant in apperance. These transformers are manufactured imploying the most modern and reliable manufacturing practices. The role of fins is to increase the surface of the tank, which is in contact with the cooling air. Due to the temprature rise of the winding under load, the oil temperator also rises. The hot oil level rises and meets the top further goes down into the fins. Where it is cooled by the air rising up betwen the fins.

Three phase pole mounted transformers used extensively in rural distribution networks. The simple tank design used very low loss types requiring less radiator surface. corrugated fins are used to provide radiator surface for the larger ratings. The design and construction methods ensure that the mass is kept to a minimum for any given rating and loss level. This means that installation costs and pole loadings are also minimized. The HV outdoor shedded bushings for IEC types are located on the tank cover. LV bushings may also be on the tank cover or alternativly on the tank side. Arcing horns or lightining arresters can be fitted as required.

Amorphous metal distribution transformers are seen as the future product in energy efficiency programs and are currently introduced in many countries throughout the world. These transformers are equipped with amorphous metal cores, and produced only a fraction of the no-load losses to conventional magnetic steel cores. NUCON has been manufacturing these transformers since the early nineties. Recent testing on units which have been in service for ever 12 years, show that the no-load losses have been consistant since the unit were first put into service.
